Wales Air Ambulance custom-built HQ at Dafen, Llanelli, provides emergency air cover for the whole of south Wales. Shufflebottom was commissioned by Hacer Property Development & Investment via Kevin Doherty Building Contractors Ltd., to manufacture, paint and erect the steel-framed office space for HQ staff and fundraising team, and manufacture, paint and supply the steel frame and cladding for the helicopter hangar, the airbase for Helimed 57.

Building1: Office space
Building specification

  • 28 tonnes of hot-rolled steel

  • 2 tonnes of cold-rolled steel

  • Steel shot-blasted to SA 2.5

  • Finished in one coat single pack HBZP primer to 75 micron DFT

Building 2: Helicopter Hangar

  • Steel shot-blasted to SA 2.5

  • Painted 75 microns Zinc Phosphate High Build Primer – Battleship Grey
