Shufflebottom is proud to be part of ENCON’s  complete construction solution

Shufflebottom is proud to share the news that construction is well underway and our structural steel now underpins a brand new detached and sustainable warehousing and manufacturing space at Unit 4, Heads of the Valleys Industrial Estate in Rhymney, south Wales.

Working in collaboration with construction and civil engineering specialists, ENCON, who are the lead contractor for this project, we have delivered 176 tonnes of hot-rolled steel and 22 tonnes of cold-rolled steel which will be at the structural heart of this Unit which is on target to be completed by the end of 2024.

Known for “setting industrial construction standards” and offering the “complete construction solution” for their clients, we are obviously thrilled to be part of the supply chain of a company committed to such a vision. The completed project will undoubtedly translate that vision, offering 2,415 square metres of industrial unit manufacturing space and open plan office accommodation to the first floor. Staff at the unit will benefit from welfare and changing facilities on the ground floor as well as a secure gated yard and parking and landscaped outdoor amenity space.

Our input into the project has been interesting especially during the design & detailing stage when Shufflebottom helped develop the roof design with the project Engineer to ensure the pitches required by the end client. We worked to tight schedules during the erection phase, but working in tandem with our erectors and ENCON we pushed on and overcame the challenges to deliver a quality product in time for the cladding contractors to commence their work.

The completed development at Unit 4 will be available from quarter one, 2025 and is being marketed by www.jenkinsbest.com. A full description of the property and USPs are on their website but some of the key features are:

  • Excellent access to A465 Heads of the Valley road

  • EPC rating A

  • BREEAM ‘very good’ rating

  • EV charging points

  • PV/Solar on roof

  • 4 No. loading doors

  • Max. eaves height 8 metres

  • LED lighting

  • 4 No. level roller shutter doors

It is particularly satisfying for us at Shufflebottom to work with a company like ENCON as we share their values aim to be a responsible business. Like them, we invest in skills, CPD training, apprenticeships and attracting women into the construction industry.

It is not the first time we have worked with ENCON and have delivered many great projects together over the years, developing an amazing working relationship across the whole workforce operation from on-site foremen and tradesmen to the Directors. We’d like to thank ENCON for investing in us again and look forward to more collaboration in the future.
