Today, Cross Hands’ based Frank’s is a global brand, supplying UK supermarket chains – Sainsbury, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda – the NHS, and emerging markets in the Middle East, with their delicious and ever-expanding range of special ice-creams made with passion, flair and the best of Welsh ingredients.
Frank’s is a story of continued success founded on vision, hard work, and a commitment to stay ahead of the game in the fast-changing and highly competitive ice-cream market, always looking to develop new products and attract new customers.
Starting with a small business selling ice-cream in Garnant in 1922, and then supplying customers in the Amman Valley with delicious ice-cream from their vans, the business has expanded over the intervening years, and likewise its production facilities. In 2018, Frank’s finished a £1.5m expansion to the Capel Hendre factory, drastically increasing its production capacity. And now they’re set to develop further.
Currently underway is a new Retail and Product Development Centre which will complement its production facility at the Capel Hendre, Carmarthenshire site. This beautifully building, designed by Sauro Architectural Design Ltd of Carmarthen, will allow customers to enjoy Frank’s firm favourites, but importantly, taste delicious innovations first-hand as they are created in front of their very eyes.

Our company has been commissioned by long-standing partner, Carmarthenshire-based, Malpross Services, a multi-disciplined contractor known across Wales and the UK for providing professional, reliable services and the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Led by Project Manager, Steve Sharp, Shufflebottom is supplying the structural steel for this unusual and exciting structure for Frank’s. It is a project of scale – approximately 29 tonnes of hot rolled steel and 3 tonnes of cold rolled steel, which will provide the framework for this state-of-the-art building that will welcome visitors to enjoy the unforgettable taste of Frank’s Ice Cream.
