Cardiff Half Marathon

On Sunday, 6th October 2019, a group of fifteen of us, including employees and friends of Shufflebottom, will be putting on our running shoes. Together, we’re determined to reach the finishing line at the Cardiff Half Marathon – Wales’ largest road race. And between us, we’re determined that we’re going to raise £3, 000 to support the Wales Air Ambulance Charitable Trust.

The Wales Air Ambulance provides all-Wales emergency cover to serve Wales and save lives 365 days a year. It relies solely on charitable donations to cover the £6.5 million it needs annually to keep its 4 helicopters in the air and fly specialist A&E to patients wherever they are in Wales, within 20 minutes.

It’s a charity that’s close to our heart at Shufflebottom in many ways. As a Carmarthenshire-based business ourselves, we’re proud that Wales Air Ambulance is headquartered in new, state-of-the art offices and hangar at Dafen, Llanelli, from where it runs its south Wales operation. Proud too, that we played our part in the construction of these buildings, having made and erected the steel framework for the ambulance HQ building and the frame and cladding for the helicopter hangar.

But it’s charitable donations that made this happen. And it’s charitable donations that will enable it to keep happening. Therefore, a donation – no matter how small – would mean a lot to us to keep us going the extra mile in October. But it would mean much more to the Wales Air Ambulance and the people of Wales for the long term.
