Shufflebottom – the natural choice for grain stores
After almost fifty years in the UK steel-framed buildings’ construction sector, Shufflebottom understands that our reputation for excellence depends on consistency of product and customer service. That’s why we have become a respected and major player throughout the UK and beyond. We try never to take our customers for granted and strive to give added-value across all aspects of our business to honour what we know are much-considered financial investments on the part of our diverse range of customers.
We can’t help take a great sense of pride therefore, that 70% of our business is repeat business, loyal customers coming back to us time and time again as the natural choice to manufacture and deliver steel-framed buildings constructed to their exact specifications.
One such valued and long-standing customer is Mr A. Watts of Wallington Farms in Hertfordshire who has recently placed an order for this eleventh agricultural building with us – he initially bought two from us back in 2010 and it’s gone from there!
As for the technical details, his latest steel-framed building, to agricultural specification, is a grain store with 3.6m surcharge fill complete with Fibre Cement Eaves Closure and 1 no. Louvre to be sited at Broomhall Farm, Hertfordshire, which is part of the Wallington Farms brand. The roof is designed to accommodate Solar Panels to South Side plus Cowl. The building is 24m long x 19m wide x 6m to eaves and includes 4.no 6m bays. The roof is clad in 0.7mm Single Skin Plastic Coated Box Profile (Juniper Green) with an anti-condensation fleeced-backed membrane. Sides and ends are clad in Vertical 0.5mm Shufflebottom 1000/32 Plastic Coated Forward Box Profile (Juniper Green) and one end incorporates 3.no Gable columns and 1 no. Louvre opening and the other end incorporates 2.no Gable Columns.
Mr Watts is responsible for 2,500 hectares of farmland in the Home Counties, Wallington Farms producing wheat, barley, oil seed rape, peas, beans and oats – mostly for local processing, including maltings.
Mr Watts, as many of our customers know, is also a respected figure in the agricultural sector. He is an arable crops’ and cereals’ specialist who has advised the EU; a former board member of BASIS Registration; and ex-Chair of NFU’s combinable crops’ commission. You might have seen the numerous articles he has written for Farmers Weekly.
He is then a voice for the industry and we are delighted that his voice speaks for us at Shufflebottom. He has told us that he came back to us automatically for another building as his business continues to grow “because of the quality of construction” as well as “being able to deal with the same site surveying and construction team for the whole job from start to finish and having a good rapport with the company.” That’s music to our ears and also strong advocacy for other customers.
And as Shufflebottom Managing Director, Alex Shufflebottom says:
“We construct grain stores of any and all sizes to suit customers’ exact requirements. It’s about delivering what our customers want – that’s what makes us successful.”
But our portfolio is wide. As well grain stores, we supply a range of steel-framed buildings to our customers in the agricultural sector including, but not confined to:
Equestrian buildings
General-purpose buildings
Hay and straw barns
Livestock units
Milking parlours
Pig units
Sheep housing
