Shufflebottom helps deliver new LBS building in Maesteg

At the end of June, the LBS Group opened its brand new branch at Heol Ty Gwyn on the Industrial Estate at Maesteg. Shufflebottom, working with its long-standing customer, Malpross Services, is proud to have supplied the steel-framed building for this development.

Founded in 1931, the award-winning LBS Group is today the leading independent builders' merchants in South Wales. It employs over 500 staff in over 50 outlets across South Wales supplying a comprehensive range of building materials to a range of customers from DIY enthusiasts and self-build customers to developers and the civil engineering industries. Its distinctive fleet of red commercial vehicles is a familiar site on the roads of Wales, honouring LBS’ same or next day delivery service.

We were therefore thrilled to be recommissioned by Malpross Services as the supplier of choice for this new development at Maesteg. We have supplied our steel-framed buildings to them many times in the past, locally for the 3A’s site at Carmarthen, and further afield, and more recently, for the Bristol Waste Company at Avonmouth. Malpross Services are known across South Wales and the South-West of England for their expertise in groundworks, civils, and construction and are highly regarded for providing professional and sustainable services to meet the highest levels of customer service.

Shufflebottom trusts it has matched LBS Group own company objectives of ‘providing excellent service and product availability delivered with passion and integrity’ in the supply of its new Maesteg building.

The building is constructed to B.S. 5950 industrial specification and CE Marked to Execution Class 2. It is a non-load bearing monopitch structure measuring 30m long (clear) x 12.5m wide (clear) x 5m to eaves incorporating 6 x bays. The steelwork is shotblast and Hot Dipped Galvanised Finished to BNEN 1461. The roof is clad in 0.5mm Kingspan KS1000RW XL Forte Leathergrain Plastic Coated Box Profile LPC Approved 40mm Composite insulated panels. Sides are clad in Vertical 0.5mm Kingspan KS1000RW XL Forte Leathergrain Plastic Coated Box Profile LPC Approved 40mm Composite insulated panels.

This project is triply satisfying for us at Shufflebottom as it brings together three businesses with their roots in Carmarthenshire. The LBS Group and Malpross Services, like us, are home-grown Carmarthenshire-born businesses – Shufflebottom and Malpross Services are headquartered in Cross Hands, and the LBS Group in Ammanford.

We would like to thank Malpross Services for their continued investment in us at Shufflebottom, and to wish the LBS Group ongoing success in their operations at Maesteg and throughout Wales.
