Teeing off for Prostate Cymru

At Shufflebottom we always try to do our best to support charities and good causes that are close to home and close to the hearts of our team of staff.

In 2022 – 2023, we are choosing to focus our fund-raising efforts on the charity Prostate Cymru. With Prostate Cancer being the most common cancer in men, we know that with one in eight men getting this cancer in their lifetime, many of our staff will have been – or will be – touched by personal experience of this type of cancer.

Back in November 2002, we came together as Team Shufflebottom to enjoy (and be educated) at a Big Breakfast event here at Cross Hands. Following on from the success of that day, we are now looking forward to a Charity Golf Day which is coming up soon on 2nd June, 2023, in the hope of raising yet more much-needed funds for Prostate Cymru.

The Charity Golf Day will tee off here in Carmarthenshire at the magnificent Machynys – Wales’ first Nicklaus-designed golf course at Monks Island, near Llanelli www.machynys.com. This 7,121-yard modern Links course, with its wonderful coastal views out over the Burry Estuary and the Gower peninsula, is a fitting venue for our event and we know it will be a 5-star experience for all involved and importantly, will raise a lot of money for Prostate Cymru.

If Shufflebottom can play a small part to help fund research for a Wales-wide screening programme and help improve prostate cancer patient outcomes through early diagnosis and early interventions and through raising awareness, then events such as this are worth doing, in the widest sense of the word.
