The Real Deal - another grain store for the Garden of England

The Agricultural Sector is so important to us at Shufflebottom. It was the first sector we dealt with, supplying a single garden gate to a local customer back in 1977. In 2024, the sector has grown, and makes for 60% of our turnover of £25 million.

Understandably, we are proud of our track record on the ground across the whole of the UK, supplying a wide range of steel-framed buildings for this diverse sector. We know that one size does not fit all and we constantly have our ear to the ground ensuring that we can supply a bespoke ‘Shuff Shed’ for an individual customer’s specific needs whether it be a cattle store, a pig house, an equestrian centre and a whole lot more!

We also take pride when customers keep coming back to us for another building. Such is the case with Fletcher Grain Systems Ltd. of Kent, who (excuse the pun) know Shufflebottom is the real deal when it comes to the manufacture and supply of a grain store building that will satisfy the exact requirements of their customer.

Fletcher Grain Systems Ltd. is acknowledged for excellence for the supply of: engineering consultancy services; sourcing buildings; grain drying equipment; and, grain handling equipment in the South-East of England.

Based in Deal, and established back in 1994, they have been working on behalf of farmers and cereal growers who are the backbone of the Kent rural economy. With 85% of the land in Kent being classed as rural, and 62% of it being farmed, equating to 224,535 acres, it’s no wonder Kent is known as The Garden of England. And it’s no wonder, it is a very important area to us at Shufflebottom!

Fletcher Grain Systems Ltd recently returned to Shufflebottom for the supply of another steel-framed building to be sited at Home Farm in Betteshanger, Deal. The building is a Grain Store with a propped portal frame, measuring 36m long x 24m wide x 6m to eaves, accommodating 6 x 6m bays.

The roof (which has a 15 degree pitch) is clad with Natural Grey P6R Fibre Cement with Closed Ridges and Fibre Cement Eaves Closures, and the sides are clad in Vertical 0.5mm Juniper Green Plastic Coated Box Profile with MetSEC side rails.

Shufflebottom would like to thank Fletcher Grain Systems Ltd for working with us once again and endorsing our steel-framed buildings to a growing number of farmers in Kent. We’d also like to give a big shout out to our very own Dan Lacey, our Shufflebottom man on the ground in Kent and the South-East, who facilitated this sale.
