The Big Breakfast Prostate Fundraiser
At Shufflebottom we always try to do our best to support charities by planning fundraising events that can involve all our staff. However, with so many worthy causes to try and support, we realise that we can’t help them all. Our aim is therefore to try and do our best to fund those causes and charities that are close to home and close to our heart.
That’s why on Thursday, 17th November, we enjoyed a Big Breakfast fundraiser here at the factory and office at HQ, Cross Hands, in aid of Prostate Cymru. With Prostate Cancer being the most common cancer in men, we know that with one in eight men getting this cancer in their lifetime, many of our staff will have been – or will be – touched by personal experience of this type of cancer.
We came together as Team Shufflebottom – office staff, managers, welders, fabricators –everyone enjoying the Big Breakfast (breakfast rolls courtesy of Fresh Bites in Ammanford) for a good cause. Gaynor Newton, a specialist nurse, joined us from Prostate Cymru and we broke into smaller groups, and she kindly spoke to us all about Prostate Cancer.
If Shufflebottom can play a small part to help fund research for a Wales-wide screening programme and help improve prostate cancer patient outcomes through early diagnosis and early interventions and through raising awareness, then that is worth doing, in the widest sense of the word.
