International Women’s Day 2023 – Celebrating Shufflebottom’s Women of Steel
March 8th is International Women’s Day 2023 and a chance for people across the globe to stop and think about how we can embrace equity (#EmbraceEquity) and together work towards a world free from bias, stereotypes and discrimination in all walks of life. It is also a day to:
celebrate women’s achievements
take action to drive gender parity
At Shufflebottom we will mark this day of celebration, though 365 days a year we work towards these aims.
Our new website goes live on St David’s Day!
March 1 marks a very important day in the annual calendar for Shufflebottom. As a Wales-based company it’s a day not only to celebrate Saint David’s Day (Dydd Gwyl Dewi) our patron saint, but importantly, this year, to celebrate the day our new website goes live!
Made of Steel
As one of the UK’s leading independent manufacturers of structural steel, Shufflebottom’s been taking some time to think about all the positive associations of steel: strong, unyielding, tough, durable, supportive. No wonder it’s used in everyday phrases to describe human characteristics such as, nerves of steel and made of steel. The list goes on. Sometimes you can’t tell by looking at the exterior, what is under the surface with humans and often this is the case with buildings too.
An example of this is the current project Shufflebottom is delivering for our client, Island Estates’ development of Student Accommodation at Rivermead Islands, Chelmsford.
National Apprenticeship Week 2023 (#NAW2023)
Monday, 6th February - 12th February is National Apprenticeship Week 2023 (#NAW2023) and a very exciting time of year for us at Shufflebottom. Though apprenticeships matter to us every day of the year, this specially designated week-long celebration is a chance for our business, like many businesses all over the UK, to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make:
• to individuals and their skills’ development
• to businesses like ours and the future employment pipeline
• to the wider Wales and UK economy

Made in Wales; delivered to SE England
There’s nothing like the feeling of satisfaction when a customer comes back to us, time and time again, for the manufacture and delivery of one of our steel-framed buildings. Such is the case with our long-standing customer, Burden Bros Construction, for whom we have supplied many buildings, including another two recently.
Local links between Industry and Education
At Shufflebottom we have enjoyed a history of forging successful links between our manufacturing business and education. We know how important it is that young people are properly prepared to make the transition from the classroom to the world of work.
That’s why we have been working recently with Ysgol Maes-y-Gwendraeth in Cefneithin, a neighbouring village to us here in Carmarthenshire.
