Shufflebottom’s 10 Top Highlights of 2022
2022 has been quite a year for us at Shufflebottom. After the lows felt by us all during the Pandemic, here are ten of our highlights of 2022, all equally marvellous, to round off what’s been a wonderful year.
It was great to reconnect with our customers face-to-face at the series of spring and summer agricultural shows we attended including: LAMMA, The British Pig and Poultry Fair, The Royal Welsh Show, The Cereals Event, The Royal Highland Show and The Royal Norfolk Show. (See It’s Showtime on our news section posted 11 03 2022)
We continued our long-standing relationship with Smart Systems delivering the structural steel work for yet another building. We manufactured the structural steel for our first project with them in 2008 and to date, we have delivered a total of 45,000 sq. metres which equates with 11.5 acres of buildings on the site of their headquarters at Yatton, Bristol. (See Working Smart on our news section posted 15 07 2022)
We were thrilled to supply over 29 tonnes of hot rolled steel and 3 tonnes of cold rolled steel for our neighbour in Carmarthenshire, the fabulous Frank’s Ice Cream. The steel work provided the framework for their new state-of-the art Gelateria. We can vouch for the fact that it’s a wonderful customer experience too. Back in May we opened our factory doors at Shufflebottom to a group of ten people drawn from different manufacturing businesses in Wales as part of Manufacturing Wales’ initiative to foster a collaborative consortium designed to meet the complex needs of the manufacturing sector in Wales. (See Manufacturing Wales on our news section posted 23 05 2022)
We enjoyed a Shufflebottom Fun Day back in August, all travelling together by coach to the award-winning Heatherton World of Activities, near Tenby. A good time was had by all having a paintball battle with no hard feelings followed by wonderful food. (See Shufflebottom Fun Day on our news section posted 30 08 2022)
We continued our links between Shufflebottom and education when we hosted learners from Llandovery College here at the offices and factory. It was an action-packed morning including a presentation of the business and a factory tour. (See Shufflebottom and Future Generations on our news section posted 16 02 2022)
We got in the Christmas spirit early this year manufacturing the structural steel for the new agricultural building that is now home to Wales’ largest herd of reindeer based at Gower Fresh Christmas Trees Farm at Three Crosses, Swansea – the destination for south Wales’ best Christmas experience. (see Santa’s Helpers on our news section posted 01 11 2022)
In November, all the Shufflebottom team came together here for the Big Breakfast Prostate Fundraiser. We enjoyed breakfast rolls in aid of Prostate Cymru www.prostatecymru.com which is our chosen charity for 2022 (and for 2023 when we have a golf day). We’ve opened a just giving page and you can read the full story and perhaps donate by seeing The Big Breakfast Prostate Fundraiser on our news section posted 28 11 2022)
We are proud to have provided the structural steel-work for a wonderful building of size and scope for Burns Pet Nutrition at Parc Pensarn, Carmarthen. It’s a pets’ paradise consisting of a shop (open in time for Christmas) with a pets’ wellness centre and veterinary practice – Seren Vets – coming on stream in 2023. (see Pets’ Paradise at Parc Pensarn on our news section posted 30 11 2022)
We can’t help but be pleased that for the first time ever, 2022 saw Shufflebottom’s annual turnover top £25 million. We’re looking forward to continued growth over the coming years.
None of these highlights would have happened if it were not for our loyal customers and committed workforce. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year/Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
